Louise Boruque is an American artist based in Chicago, Illinois.

Louise Boruque runs across the range of American beliefs around sex(-uality), reproduction and gender with editorial aesthetics and perverse wit. Amidst the volatile political environment in America, with specific challenges to LGBTQ+ Americans and reproductive & sexual healthcare, Louise makes wry commentary and connections about “American values” and the expression of gender & sexuality in past and present media—all the while dissecting their own identity and experience as a queer American.

Louise’s condom series approaches objectification and commercialization head-on with dominating and sterile industry-standard photography practices. Their still life and self portraiture practice submits to natural or environmental lighting to capture intuitive expression. Their film photography is simply for their own pleasure.

They also work as an independent product photographer.
